Northern Beaches Hardship Grants

Businesses on the Northern Beaches may be eligible to apply for hardship grants

Over the Christmas 2020 period, Sydneys Northern Beaches was plunged into a 3 week lock down. A time that would have been a much needed lift for local businesses over the busy Christmas trading period, businesses were required to close there doors or dramatically reduce their trading ability.

The Minister of Finance and Small Business, Damien Tudehope has announced new Hardship Grants to assist businesses on the Northern Beaches who felt the impact of the Christmas lockdown. The grants will be offered to business who have experienced significant hardship as a result of the COVID-19 Christmas lockdowns.

The grants will be provided in a tiered approach as “some businesses have been hit harder than others”.

• Businesses who experienced a decline in turnover of 30% may be eligible for a $3,000 grant

• Businesses who experienced a decline in turnover of 50% may be eligible for a $5,000 grant

The NSW government have said the grants are designed to provide assistance for unavoidable costs for which no other government backing is available, including utilities, rent, financial or legal advice, and other activities to support the operation of a business.

The NSW Government announced in January ‘21, the Northern Beaches will be piloting the new Dine and Discover vouchers from late February 2021. Local eligible businesses can register to participate in the scheme and every NSW aged 18 and over will be eligible for 4 $25 vouchers in total.

The Dine & Discover NSW vouchers will be divided into two categories:

• 2 x $25 vouchers to be used for eating in at restaurants, cafes, bars, pubs and clubs from Monday to Thursday, excluding public holidays.

• 2 x $25 vouchers to be used for entertainment and recreation, including cultural institutions, live music, and arts venues, available 7 days a week, excluding public holidays.
